MINAT boss Atanga Nji delivers presidential support and a message of peace to the North-West

The Minister of Territorial Administration, Atanga Nji, Paul, on October 5, 2026, continued continued his working visit to the North-West Region with a strong message of solidarity, peace and support to vulnerable populations. During his visit to Bamenda, the Minister presided over the handing of Presidential gifts and relief assistance to 650 households, representing more than 3,500 people in the North-West Region. The beneficiaries received cash assistance and basic food and household items, including rice, buckets, groundnut oil, sardines, soap and other essential items. Transportation was also assured for beneficiaries to facilitate their movement, while commercial motorcycle riders received fuel allowances as part of the assistance. The ceremony brought together the Governor of the North-West Region, Adolphe Lele L’afrique, administrative authorities, the City Mayor of Bamenda, Paul Achobong Tambeng, traditional and religious leaders, political party representatives, forces of law and order and other local stakeholders. Welcoming the Minister, the city mayor of Bamenda, Paul Achobong Tambeng, expressed appreciation for his visit and continued attention to the people of the North-West Region. He thanked President Paul Biya and the First Lady, Mrs Chantal Biya, for the support provided to the population. The mayor also praised the Minister for his close contact with communities across the country and his attention to vulnerable people. Addressing the population, Minister Paul Atanga Nji said he had come to Bamenda on the instructions of President Paul Biya and the First Lady, Mrs Chantal Biya, to thank the women of the North-West Region for their contribution to the 12 October 2025 Presidential Election and for their mobilisation during the visit of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV. He said the special assistance was a gesture of appreciation from the presidential couple for the role played by the women. The Minister emphasised the important role of women in families and communities, particularly in ensuring that food and other support reach their families. Minister Atanga Nji also called for greater respect and protection of women, strongly condemning domestic violence and femicide. The Minister noted that, according to reports from administrative authorities, calm is gradually returning to the region, and people are increasingly going about their normal activities. He called on the population to help maintain this progress by supporting administrative authorities and the forces of law and order. He also encouraged those involved in violence to abandon the bush and return to civilian life, stressing that everyone has a place in the development of the region.
The Minister announced that the distribution of the food and non-food assistance would continue for about one month to allow more beneficiaries to receive the support. Transportation arrangements were also announced to facilitate the movement of beneficiaries.
