A joint MINAT/MINDEF visit bring presidential support to over 1,000 persons hit by Boko Haram in Waza
A government delegation led by Atanga Nji Paul, Minister of Territorial Administration, and Joseph Beti Assomo, Minister Delegate at the Presidency in Charge of Defence, visited victims of Boko Haram attacks in Waza, Logone and Chari Division of Cameroon’s Far North Region. The visit, which took place today, Monday, September 28, 2026, sought to assess the security and humanitarian situation in the locality and convey a message of support and solidarity from the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, and his wife, Chantal Biya, to the population repeatedly hit by Boko Haram. The delegation met displaced families living in difficult conditions. Many were forced to flee their homes following Boko Haram attacks and are currently living in overcrowded conditions, with some sheltering in classrooms and others sleeping in the open. The ministerial envoy delivered relief supplies, including rice, soap, buckets, cooking oil, sleeping bags and hygiene kits. The ceremony featured welcome remarks by the Mayor of Waza and an address by the Minister of Territorial Administration. The MINAT Boss reiterated the concern of the Head of State and First Lady for the victims and assured them of the continued protection of the population by the country’s defence and security forces. Minister Beti Assomo also emphasised the importance the Head of State has for the whole region and the creation of a special Rapid Intervention Brigade and a base to host over a thousand specially trained elements. The mission ended with the distribution of humanitarian kits to over 5,000 beneficiaries from over 1,000 families affected by the Boko Haram group from over 50 villages.

On a besoin d’actions concrètes !
